Seasons in the Vineyards of Madison Indiana

Autumn brings ripe fruit, colorful vines and the grape harvest to the vineyards in the Madison Indiana area

Madison area vineyards celebrate summer with bountiful grapes ripening in warm Indiana wines. Vineyard managers spend substantial time trimming away leaves (canopy) to allow light to ripen grapes and air to circulate among vines.

Early spring brings firm green grapes to to all the vines. In late spring hummingbirds return and build their tiny nests lined with iridescent feathers beneath firm grape clusters.

Winter keeps the same vines comfy beneath a blanket of snow. Ideally, vines are pruned and prepared for the coming season as soon as frost breaks and weather permits.
